The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is a health profession regulatory college. It has been delegated the authority under the Health Professions Act (HPA) to regulate Alberta’s registered nurses, nurse practitioners, certified graduate nurses, graduate nurses and graduate nurse practitioners.
The responsibilities of regulatory colleges, according to the HPA, are to protect the public and hold registrants accountable for the care they provide. As such, the CRNA’s regulatory responsibilities include:

Eligible applicants must be Alberta residents and are not required to live in Edmonton.
Being a member of a CRNA regulatory committee will require a time commitment during weekday business hours. You may be required to take time away from work, use your judgment to determine how to advise your employer.
After all expressions of interest and resumés have been reviewed and assessed against the Regulatory Committee Competencies and Attributes Profile, applicants who are a match will be contacted for an interview.
Applicants shortlisted for an interview can expect to be contacted in early March 2026.
Interviews will take place between March 16 to April 3, 2026.
All interviews will be conducted virtually.
If you are being considered for recommendation for appointment, you will be required to provide references. These references will be contacted before your recommendation can be considered final.
Yes, individuals appointed to the shared Complaint Review Committee & Hearing Tribunal Membership List can be selected for either a Complaint Review Committee or a Hearing Tribunal.
Individuals appointed to CRNA regulatory committees will receive an onboarding / information session and an orientation session specific to the regulatory committee to which they have been appointed.
The frequency of meetings and time commitment for each regulatory committee varies. This commitment will be discussed with individuals during the application process.
Individuals appointed to the regulatory committees are considered volunteers. They are, however, remunerated on a per diem rate.
The regulatory committees meet on an as-needed basis, and members are expected to prepare for and participate in meetings. Remuneration is on a per diem rate of $205.00 for less than four (4) hours and $375.00 for equal to or over four (4) hours spent.
Meetings are currently held virtually via MS Teams. If meetings are held in person, they will take place at the CRNA’s office at: 11120 178 St NW, Edmonton, AB.
Travel may be required for in-person meetings at the CRNA office. Regulatory committee members outside of the Edmonton area will be reimbursed for travel, meal and accommodation expenses when required to attend an in-person meeting.
