To continue practising in the upcoming practice year, which runs from Oct. 1, 2026 to Sept. 30, 2027, all registrants must renew their permits with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Registrants must meet all the renewal requirements to be eligible to renew their permits. This helps protect Albertans by allowing the CRNA to confirm that registrants still meet the requirements to provide safe, competent and ethical care.
The renewal period runs from Aug. 1, 2026 to Sept. 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MT. Renewal applications will automatically appear in registrants’ College Connect accounts on Aug. 1.
Any renewal applications that are not completed during the renewal period will result in an expired permit and the inability to practise beginning on Oct. 1, 2026. The CRNA will inform employers of expired permits to ensure their employees are not practising without a permit.
Find out more about the CRNA’s renewal process and requirements for registrants, including the most frequently asked questions, by visiting the Renewal Applicants page.
