As a regulatory body, the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) serves the public interest by regulating the registered nursing practice in Alberta. Fees cover the costs of this regulatory process, which includes:
All fees below include GST (GST #R106692643).
This is the required fee to create an account with the CRNA. If you already have an account, you do not need to pay again.
Virtul care accounts are exempt from the one-time creation fee.
The permit fee is only collected once per registrant per practice year. This fee structure is for permits effective between Oct. 1, 2025, and Sept. 30, 2026.
Permits that are issued for the full year, which including annual renewals.
Permits that are issued effective May, June, July, August or September will cost a pro-rated fee based on the number of months remaining in the year.
For registrants who wish to keep themselves active in our system, but may be on leave.
Other types of permit fees are scenario-specific:
A permit issued to a registered Canadian nurse who must practice in Alberta short-term for a specific reason.
A permit issued to a registered Canadian nurse who is practicing virtually in Alberta.
