Using the Tool

The Verify a Nurse tool allows users to search the official registers for nurse practitioners and registered nurses. By entering a nurse’s name, the tool retrieves details such as their current registration status, licence type and any conditions or restrictions on their permit. It also displays whether there are any complaint decisions or disciplinary actions associated with their registration, ensuring transparency and public trust in nursing professionals.

To confirm the status of:

  • a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or health care aide (HCA), contact the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) at www.CLPNA.com. 
  • a registered psychiatric nurse (RPN), contact the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) at www.CRPNA.ab.ca.
  • a physician, contact the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta at www.CPSA.ca.
  • or other health-care professional, contact the college that regulates that profession.
